May was an entirely different Trout fishing experience making up for the otherwise dismal April. The Kinni remained high but the Rush was in fantastic shape for the entire month. Oh sure, it was full to the banks but the water was clear. The weather for the most part was cloudy and the Blue Winged Olive’s hatched in abundence. Just about every sunny day brought out the Caddis Flies. Even the Crane Fly hatches were superior to anything I’ve seen in the past. Some have wondered aloud about disappearing hatches and questionable water quality in the Rush. From where I sit, I believe the river is in stellar shape. It has just become a Masters Degree Stream, no longer the give away it was in the 90’s.
